True greatness💜 10/26/20
Hi everyone!!
Alright to preface, I know all y'all in Idaho/Utah wherever will laugh... but it is SO COLD here! Overnight Yuma dropped 40 degrees. Yesterday it was a nice 95 degrees, today its 54 and I'm not going to lie I'm freezing. It was just 120 like a month and a half ago, I do not feel prepared, haha!
Outside of that it has been a PACKED week of service. We had a competition for the most service opportunities and we capped out planning for 10 hours of service and ended up hitting 15! All but 2 with people were teaching.(: We pulled weeds, to making cookies, to serving at the foodbank with the National Guard, to leveling out some dirt, to hauling concrete bricks, to raking a goat pen. It was awesome!
This week I read some incredible talks that really impacted me and how I view the work I do now. One if the talks is called "Keep Walking, and Give Time a Chance". In the beginning she talks about the story of the pioneers. Here's a few quotes, "as I learn more about that monumental trek I am convinced that along with those very real and dramatic scenes, most of the journey for most of the people was pretty routine. Mostly they walked and walked and walked... Most of our lives are not a string of dramatic moments that call for immediate heroism and courage. Most of our lives, rather, consist of daily routines, even monotonous tasks, that wear us down and leave us vulnerable to discouragement....True greatness … always requires regular, consistent, small, and sometimes ordinary and mundane steps over a long period of time."
So often people call us the 'pioneers of this kind of missionary work'. I do not feel worthy of that title. Some days are very 'daily routines and tasks' and not as much of the moments of courage or crazy miracles. That I have seen has left me vulnerable to discouragement. But those big crazy moments don't make up the sum of it all. Those big moments aren't how character is built. But its in the daily and small routines. Don't give up! You are coming closer to true greatness!
Love you all!
