Transfers! 1/13/20
Hello friends and family!
Well, I am officially getting transferred! It is so sad to be leaving Ahwatukee and the wonderful people here, but God needs me somewhere else and that place is Phoenix! I am SO excited! I have wanted to serve in the Phoenix zone but there aren't many sisters there as it is more of a dangerous part.... but I am SO EXCITED!
It was a good week this week, we had over 25 people (returning members and potential members) at church yesterday! It was incredible! We also had two missionary homecomings, one Sister from serving in Brazil and one Elder from Guam. It was a spiritually packed few meetings. We also had exchanges so I got to go do Spanish work, which I LOVE. Seriously every time I do Spanish work I realize how much I want to learn Spanish.
This week we had a rough lesson with some investigators, ones that we actually are stopping teaching for the moment. They are so knowledgeable and want to learn, but recently it has become more of a "convincing" rather than teaching. Our purpose as missionaries is not to convince people to join the church, it is to invite others to come to Christ. As they argued and fought with us about things they believed everything was contradicting. They would say one thing, then another, it was all really confusing. I realized very quickly then what Nephi was meaning to "glory in plainness". The gospel of Jesus Christ is plain and simple. They are complexities that sometimes can overshadow or diminish our understanding but the fact of the matter is, God is our Heavenly Father, we are His children, He has a plan for us, Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice is the only way to be saved, we can do and be better each day through basics of the gospel such as prayer and scripture study. It is simple. Too often we 'look beyond the mark' when the reality of it is hardly complex. As Elder Johnson put it this past conference, read your scriptures and pray every day, every day, every day. I promise you will see miracles in your life. Your spiritual capacity will increase. You will better understand our Heavenly Father and our Savior. You will feel of the power that comes from daily gospel living. I promise that you will see and feel blessings each and every day.
I love you all so much! Have a wonderful week!
