MEXICO!๐Ÿ’› 7/27/20

 Hi everyone!

It has been an amazing week down here in sunny Yuma, AZ. We have seen some awesome miracles and have had really great studies that have brought so much perspective in this time.
We had a zone conference this Thursday and the AP's did a training on member work. Side note, I LOVE member work! Anyways they had us take 10 minutes right then and there to pray about a member to call, share a message, and ask for a referral. Now, I personally don't like taking the approach of outright asking for a referral because the success rate with that is slim to none. So we came up with a good message and prayed about who to call. Sister Larson really felt like we needed to call this one member, we prayed again and called her. She was busy but asked us to call that night. We did and her whole family was on the phone so we shared D&C 11:21 and extended the commitment to "obtain the word" to have the ability to "declare it". Right as we finished as we were asking for a prayer the dad quickly says, OH by the way Sisters, my sons girlfriend wants to take the lessons from you, can we set that up? … WHAT! So awesome!
This week really was just so amazing. I read the talk "The Best is Yet to Be" by Elder Holland and it gave me such a beautiful perspective. Elder Holland explains the story of Lot's wife and how when she looked back she looked back with longing. As he does that he explains this,
"A more theological way to talk about Lot’s wife is to say that she did not have faith. She doubted the Lord’s ability to give her something better than she already had. Apparently, she thought that nothing that lay ahead could possibly be as good as what she was leaving behind.
To yearn to go back to a world that cannot be lived in now, to be perennially dissatisfied with present circumstances and have only dismal views of the future, and to miss the here and now and tomorrow because we are so trapped in the there and then and yesterday are some of the sins of Lot’s wife."
This gave me so much perspective. Too often I find myself with other missionaries just longing to go back to how we used to do missionary work. I am dissatisfied with not being able to go knock doors and teach in person. In turn, I create a lack of faith in the Lord and trust in His plan. I don't intend to. But how can I truly have faith if I'm not looking forward to what is in store for sharing the gospel? It was a beautiful principle even in the blunt words of Elder Holland. He is SO great!
I love you all! Have an amazing week!

Here are some photos!
WE did some service with our district, if you can't already tell, the Elder taking the photo is SO tall. He is actually 6'7" so that is why the angle is so crazy.
