day 11☀️ - 3/30/20
Hey everyone!
I hope you have all had a great week. Despite the circumstances I hope adjusting is going well. It has been a good week this week. We taught quite a few lessons and had some great experiences with members. My house of sisters all get along really well and are grateful for the time to get closer.
We do mostly online proselytizing but also have an extra hour of study and 2 hours of outside time. Since we can't go places our outside time consists of kite flying, chalk art, pulling weeds, long walks, and soccer. I also happened to get a ukulele from a member so I've been learning quite a few songs!
With all the extra study I've come across a lot of wonderful talks I otherwise would not have seen. Here is an expert from one this week. Its from a talk titled "The Poetry of Success"
"William James, the great Harvard psychologist, once asked this question, how would you like to create your own mind? But isn’t that about what usually happens? Professor James explains that the mind is made up by what it feeds upon. He said that the mind, like the dyer’s hand, is colored by what it holds. If I hold in my hand a sponge full of purple dye, my hand becomes purple. And if I hold in my mind and heart great ideas of faith and enthusiasm, my whole personality is changed accordingly.
If we think negative thoughts, we develop negative minds. If we think depraved thoughts, we develop depraved minds. On the other hand, if we think celestial thoughts, which are the kind of thoughts that God thinks, then we develop celestial minds."
We have the ability and capacity to develop positive, enthusiastic, celestial minds right now. So do it! Only put thoughts that are faith filled and optimistic in your mind and that's what will cultivate our personality through all the craziness. It isn't easy, and the circumstances aren't ideal, but if we can focus on simply what we think, then I think that's a good start. God has given me a lot of great perspective this week that has helped me each day. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a missionary right now. I know God has a plan and His purposes may not seem clear but I trust Him and I know if we have faith, all things will work together for our good.
Love you all!
Sister Callister
