Car wash and gifts💚 9/14/20

Hey everyone!

This week was actually so good! Monday started off giving a devotional to the mission that turned out super well. I talked about Ether 12:27 and the formula to reaching our potential in the scripture. But specifically I focused on roadblocks that can come within that formula. 1 being recognizing the true and correct characteristics of God, 2 seeing Christ as a living Christ, and understanding grace. It went really well! I was super grateful, Heavenly Father really helped out.
I also was able to give a training to my zone with my STL comp on our zone focus. That also ended up being super great. We talked about diligence in following through with goals through charity and unity. We have some awesome ideas that I'm really excited to implement! We just want to focus on ministering to others, not just to the people we teach but to other missionaries, our ward, just everyone.
We did quite a bit of service including a car wash for the community this week. We had a huge turnout, mostly those not members of our church! I actually got asked out on a date by one of the guys who came by, politely declined but nonetheless funny!
Also CRAZY MIRACLE! My first area was Ahwatukee and I taught the Hewson family. AND.... I just got a zoom link this week for one of the daughters baptism!! I got to teach her for 4 1/2 months and she just was baptized this weekend. It was so special to watch and made me especially grateful for technology this week. I'll attach a picture of Nevaeh!

Really though it has been such a great week. I have had some awesome studies that have really changed my perspective on a lot of things. There is an amazing talk by Marvin J. Ashton called 'There are many gifts' and man if you haven't read that talk DO IT. How often do we read the scriptures and when it lists out the gifts from God become discouraged because maybe we don't fall in any of those categories. What Elder Ashton explains is there are so many gifts that exemplify the Savior that sometimes we don't realize. Some being the gift to ponder, gift of listening, gift of being able to weep, gift of offering prayer, and so much more. I bring this up because I know each one of you have SO many gifts. Maybe we don't recognize them, but God has blessed each one of you with gifts. Pray to know what they are, God loves you and I love you all as well. Have an amazing week!!
